HE KNOWS WHERE YOU ARE

There are some times we go through life and we feel very lonely. The weight of our circumstances seem almost too much to bear. It seems like we are in the thick of the storm, and nobody knows where we are or what we are going through...nobody seems to understand. Boy have I been there! I was in a new place, with new people and I felt extremely lonely. Things I had thought would work out didn't seem to be working out. Plans I had made seemed to be crumbling all around me, and nobody really understood what I was going through. My very existence seemed questionable and at one point I wondered if anybody would care whether I was alive or dead. I cried out to God, and He didn't seem to care either. No response. No joy. No peace. Lots of tears.

Then one day, I decided that to seek God out by looking for a new church. I'd been going to another church with the people I was living with at that time but I couldn't seem to hear the Voice of God. So, I decided to look for another church and I found a small, nondescript church. I began attending this church regularly, hoping that I would hear a word that spoke to my situation. Week after week I went, and though the word the pastor spoke was very good, it never seemed to sink down in my heart and spirit. Then one day, after the pastor had finished preaching, he began speaking in tongues (now I know this is another debatable topic in the Body of Christ, but it is what it is...) and I thought, Yes! This is it! God is getting ready to speak! The pastor made his way to different people, speaking prophetically into their lives. I wondered when he was going to make his way to where I was seating. He finally did and he began to "read my mail" so to speak. He told me things about me and my situation that no one could have known, except maybe God. I then realized that it was God speaking through this pastor and let me tell you, God made it known beyond a shadow of a doubt that He had heard all my cries, that He knew my situation, and that He had always been, and will always be with me. The peace and joy that I'd been longing for flooded my heart that day. God knew where I was! My situation didn't really change after that...it actually seemed to get worse but because my heart was filled with His peace that surpasses all understanding, I was able to remain sane through it all.

You might be in this place today. What you are going through seems insurmountable; Your prayers seem like their bouncing off the sky; Nobody seems to understand what you are going through. Take heart. God knows, and He hears your cry. He has promised, "I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] (Hebrews 13:5, AMP). He has also said, "...Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I WILL be with you...since you [are] precious in My sight, you have been honored, and I have loved you...Fear not, for I AM with you..." (Isaiah 43:1-5, NKJV, emphasis mine).

David went through episodes of loneliness too, and experiencing God's ever-presence, He wrote, "Where can I go from Your Spirit? or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascent to heaven, you ARE there; if I make my bed in hell, you ARE there." (Psalm 139:7-8, NKJV). And as if that weren't enough, God further assures that He'll ALWAYS be with us by coming down to earth through His son, Jesus Christ...Immanuel (God with us). And even when Jesus was about to be crucified, He promises His disciples, and us, another Helper in the Person of the Holy Spirit: "...And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you." (John 14:16-18, NLT).

So, if you are going through a season of loneliness, remember that God is with you! He loves you! If you were that only person on earth that needed saving, He would still have died just for you...He loves you that much! He sees and understands all you've been through, all you're going through, and all that you will go through, but DO NOT FEAR! He is ALWAYS with you. Grab hold of all the promises of God in His Word. Do not throw in the towel! Cry out to Him today, being confident in this: He knows exactly where you are!
